VMware Horizon

Although not as long in the game as the stalwart product from Citrix, VMware Horizon has gained a decent foothold in the virtualisation market.

There are many articles available, om the web, comparing the 2 products, as well as the latest entries into this solution space from Microsoft, AWS et al.

VMware describes their own product as follows:

VMware Horizon is a modern platform for secure delivery of virtual desktops and apps across the hybrid cloud, from the market leader in software-defined datacentre and digital workspaces. By leveraging unique integration with trusted VMware technology, Horizon helps IT efficiently deploy and scale virtual desktops and apps from a single control plane with rapid provisioning, automation, and simplified management to extend the best digital workspace experience to end users.

Every one of these products have their own Pros and Cons. Common for them all to work successfully, in any infrastructure, relies on a set of common parameters. A particular one being the network protocol used to minimise bandwidth consumption, whilst still presenting a quality experience to the end user. As expected, most providers claim that theirs is the best. User interface and ease of operability being another key factor. We can help you assess how your infrastructure is suited to each of these products, and how they vary.

There is always more than one solution. We will review your organisation’s specific requirements, to recommend the right product/solution. Or if you already have a product implemented, we can help you troubleshoot and optimise it, to root out any deficiencies that may have crept into your implementation.
